construction foreman
Position Summary
In this position, qualified candidates will direct and supervise a team of installers, working alongside them throughout the installation of fencing and decorative/architectural metal fabrications.
Primary Responsibilities
- Directly supervise and coordinate activities of construction crews to perform various types of construction installations.
- Manage, coordinate and schedule the activities of an assigned construction crew (e.g. performance reviews, disciplinary actions, etc.)
- Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures.
- Inspect work processes, equipment, and construction sites to ensure safety.
- Locate, measure, and mark site locations and placement of structures and equipment.
- Order construction materials and equipment.
- Record operational and environmental data.
- Coordinate and conduct project planning with operations manager, scheduling administrator and other project stakeholders.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
What we're looking for
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Five or more years of experience working in the construction field with direct responsibility for project overall quality and completion
- Knowledge of job site safety requirements
- Ability to visualize and carry project through completion
- Knowledge of building codes and standards
- Valid Michigan Chauffeurs License required, CDL A or B preferred
- Ability to learn new software to do daily activity such as: write daily field reports, upload site photographs, tech-savvy with mobile technology (e.g., smart phone, etc.)
- OSHA 10 Certification preferred
- Ability to work in a variety of environments (i.e. indoors, outdoors, open and closed, quiet and noisy spaces)
- Ability to travel - 100% of local travel is required to and from various work sites. Out of town travel is required based on the needs of the business
